Do You Need A Make Up Artist?
Yes. Unless you are under 11 years of age, with naturally beautiful skin, few of us can get by without a make up artist. But, let me qualify my emphatic "yes"... with a reminder, that you don't want just any make up artist, you need a GOOD make up artist. One who knows how to apply make up that enhances your natural beauty and that is "natural looking." The artist should also know the difference between make up for a natural light shoot and a shoot under studio lights.
If you choose a good photographer, he or she can usually recommend a make up artist and can show you examples of clients who utilized that artist. You can expect to spend $50-$175 on a make up artist.
Life Art, for instance, will help you find an artist that fits your budget and I'm sure some other photographers do the same. Asking friends whose photos you like for make up artist recommendations is a good strategy as well.
